When it comes to lipstick, there's one thing that always gets me excited, and that's a matte formula. Matte lipsticks are just so convenient- you don't have to touch them up every five minutes and they don't tend to smear across your whole face as soon as food and drinks get involved (which happens a lot since I'm basically always hungry).
Normally I tend to stick with the MAC matte or even retromatte formulas, since they basically have every colour you could wish for (never enough purple though, there always could be more purple shades if you ask me...), but after I've read a number of rave reviews about the new Bourjois liquid lipsticks, I sure was intrigued.
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Pink Pong |
Now, I live in Austria, and somehow all the cool drugstore makeup brands seem to remove themselves from the market here, which really is a shame. Imagine that: we have no Revlon, no Rimmel, and also no Bourjois. Luckily, Asos stocks a lot of the Bourjois (also Rimmel) range, so a few weeks ago when they had a 20% discount on all the stuff on their website, I caved and ordered two shades of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets, Pink Pong and Hot Pepper. Right now, they retail for 12,66€ on Asos.
Pink Pong on my lips (natural lighting) |
I'm wearing quite a lot of pink now that it's summer, and I find myself reaching to Pink Pong quite a lot- which is pretty impressive considering that I usually stick with my MAC lipsticks. I'm also very happy with the two shades I got (because with my hair colour and complexion you can't really go wrong with either pink or red, I find), but I'm also considering getting a darker colour for fall (there's one out called Grand Cru, which is a darker red that looks very intriguing to me).
Basically: I really like the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets, and I think that they're a cool alternative to the more high-end versions around (think Hourglass). So if you like a very matte finish, a pretty long-wearing formula and bright colours (it's either go bright or go home with these, if you ask me), it'd definitely give them a try!
