Review: CATRICE Nude Illusion Foundation

Catrice Cosmetics has changend and expanded their regular line for the upcoming season, and along with other products, they now offer a bunch of new foundations. Saturday, I was in my local drugstore and noticed that they already carried some of the new products. Since I wanted to try out a new foundation anyways, I opted for their new Nude Illusion Makeup which I will review for you here.

Catrice describe their new foundation as follows:

The Nude Illusion Make-up scores points as a light foundation with optimal mattifying coverage. Thanks to soft, light-reflecting pigments, the foundation provides a soft focus effect for a healthy glow. The formula is fabulous: moisturizing, longlasting and with protective UVA and UVB filters. The finish: flawless and natural.

The Nude Illusion Makeup comes in pretty weighty, matte glass container that also has a pump (bonus points!) and offers a selection of five shades: 010 Nude Ivory, 020 Rose Vanilla, 025 Nude Sand, 030 Nude Beige and 040 Medium Beige;

When I was swatching the different shades in the drugsture, I first started with the two lighter shades because normally, I'm somewhere around the second lightest shade in the typical shade spectrum of drugstore foundation. Interestingly enough, they were both way too light/rosy for my face (especially 020 Rose Vanilla)-  but my face has more yellowish untertones anyways. After that, I stwatched the next shade 030 Nude Beige on my hand where it looked pretty dark; but as we all know, hands do not really match the face when it comes to foundation. On my face, especially blended out, it looked just fine, so I opted for this shade in the end. What I also noticed is that my drugstore doesn't seem to stock 025 Nude Sand (the shade that seems to be a tad lighter than 030, so maybe even better for me?)- but it's good to know that there are actually five shades available; four seemed a bit sparse to me anyways.

I've worn this foundation for the past two days, and I must say I really like it. I actually applied it with my fingers, and blended out, the shade 030 actually works really well for me, especially now that I still have a little summer tan on my face. I haven't tried to apply it with a brush yet, but I figure with a buffing brush, it would work equally as well- I just think that application with the fingers really leaves a very nice, natural finish. It really does make you skin look more smoothed out and even!

The coverage I would say is light to medium but buildable- it really depends on how much you apply, in the end. I typically use two and a half pumps for my whole face, which is more than enough. The finish is, as already mentioned, very natural- not entirely matte, but definitely not dewy; maybe velvety would be a good way to describe it.

So far, I'm quite impressed by Catrice's new offering, and I'm also very interested in trying their other new foundation, the Velvet Finish Foundation. I hope I'll be able to get my hands on it soon- right now I'm very much into trying out new base products!

I will make sure to have a face of the day post coming up very soon which will feature me wearing the Nude Illusion Makeup, as well as another new product by Catrice, their Colour Correcting Mattifying Powder so you can see what it looks like on the face.

My verdict: 8/10 - Good work, Catrice!

The Nude Illusion Makeup retails for ~ 7,95€ in Austria.
