Sephora Cream Lip Stains in 01 Always Red & 03 Strawberry Kissed

Review Sephora Cream Lip Stains in 01 Always Red & 03 Strawberry Kissed

I'm finally back with a regular beauty review! Yay! Let's get to business ...
While I was in Barcelona, I obviously had to visit a Sephora during my stay. Before going, I actually thought I'd probably spend a shitload of money on NARS and all the other pretty things, but then I kind of didn't. I always get pretty overwhelmed when shops are too big and there's too many displays to look at, so I tend to stick to the things I know/ have seen before. The Sephora Cream Lip Stains have been making the rounds on both YouTube and blogs, and as they are super-matte, opaque and bright lip colours, I obviously had to try them.

The shades I picked were 01 Always Red and 03 Strawberry Kissed. For a better review and comparison, I thought I'd include a swatch comparison with similar, popular MAC shades. Strawberry Kissed is very close in colour to MAC All Fired Up, and Always Red is just a tad lighter/brighter than MAC Russian Red - I'm pretty sure Ruby Woo would be an even closer match, but I currently don't own that one. Texture wise, the Sephora Cream Lip Stains are incredibly opaque and velvety on the lips, but not at all as drying as the MAC's retromatte formula which makes them very comfortable to wear.

Strawberry Kissed is a gorgeous deep coral pink - very summery in my opinion. It's the perfect shade for when you're looking for a bright lip, but don't want to wear a full-on red. The staying power is pretty amazing, I remember I wore this in Barcelona before eating greasy tapas and drinking cocktails, and at the end of the night there was just some minor fading at the centre of my lips.

If you're a fan of a vintage-looking, matte red lip, Always Red is your guy. It's a very classic red shade and will go with a lot of different skin tones and hair colours - when it comes to a bright red with neutral undertones, I feel like it suits just about anyone! I'd recommend pairing this one with a lipliner, because I feel like it's really easy to go over your lip line when you're applying it - it can look messy very quickly. Other than that, this is a gorgeous red that I can't wait to wear more often.

Do you like the look of these? Have you tried them? :)
