Review: Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara

Review: Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara

Things I'll probably never buy regardless of the money in my bank account: expensive mascara. I really don't understand the concept, to be honest. We go through mascara so fast, theoretically we should throw them away every three months because of hygiene. For that reason alone, I don't really see myself spending obscene amounts of money for a little tube of mascara anytime soon. I'm a big fan of cheap drugstore mascaras that actually do the job, and even though I have my favourites - Catrice Glamour Doll, for example - I'm always open to try new ones. So here's a review of my newest purchase, the Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara

There's two versions of the Lash Princess mascara - one with red lettering (the original formula), and the one with the mint lettering which is the newest addition to the line. I for one have to admit I absolutely love the shape of the tube and the general way it is packaged - it looks a bit retro and girly at the same time! As you can see, the wand is pretty classic, straight with natural bristles. I really like the formula as well, it's neither too wet nor too dry, so it doesn't end up being a gloopy mess on your eyelashes!

I feel like this mascara gives a pretty lengthening and seperating effect, it's very nice for daytime. It doesn't give you huge dramatic voluminous lashes (maybe if you used more coats), and even though the result looks pretty nice - they obviously don't look like false lashes. But since a lot of companies make this pretty ballsy "false lash effect" claim concerning their mascara, I won't bitch about it. At the end of the day, it's marketing - there is no mascara that will make your lashes look like you've put on falshe eyelashes, because that would defeat the point of selling false eyeslashes in the first place.

I've been using the Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara for a good week now, and I do really like it. I'm thinking about trying the original red version as well, just to see how they compare. I would buy it again, mostly because of the formula, the super cute packaging and the price: for 3,29€ it's obviously an absolute bargain.

What's your favourite cheap/drugstore mascara? :)
