I never was a neutral
lipstick kinda girl. Bright lipstick has always been my thing – and
still is – but I still always wanted to find a nude lipstick that
works for me. I've accomplished that mission in 2015 a few times now,
and there's a summary of all the nude(ish) lipsticks I've accumulated
in the past year coming up soon! Today it's all about one of my new
favourites, however: MAC Twig.
I usually prefer MAC's
matte lipstick formula, but I'm a big fan of the Satin finish as
well. One of my absolute favourites, MAC Rebel, comes in this finish.
Last Spring I discovered MAC Brave (another Satin) for me – it's a
pretty pinky mauve – and since then, I've been looking into
lighter, more nude shades for me some more. I've always been
intrigued by the looks of Twig, but only got around to buying it a
few weeks ago. Twig is another Satin for my collection and similar to
Brave, just a tad darker with a bit of a browny undertone.
I'm also a big fan of
layering lipliners and lipsticks in different combinations, and Twig
is perfect for that. If I want it to look a bit more like a browny
nude, I layer it over MAC Spice lipliner. If I apply it over the In Control Pro Longwear lipliner, I get a super pretty mauve colour that
lasts for ages. It also looks great on its own, of course – on the
swatch photo, it's just Twig on my lips!
I can really see becoming
MAC Twig an everyday favourite this year – finally a nude-ish shade
that doesn't wash me out or looks like a super retro 60ies nude (not
a big fan of those!). Twig is more of a 90ies nude, but not as brown
as they used to be back in the day. I can really see this shade suit
a number of skin tones – so it might even be a great present for
your friendly next-door lipstick addict! :)
